Chris Stevens

Chris was the first member of the Deutsch Miller team to be internally promoted to the partnership.  Since joining the firm’s dispute resolution practice in 2011, Chris has become a trusted adviser to his clients and has a proven track record of achieving exceptional results.

Chris is always looking to develop unique strategies to achieve his clients’ desired outcomes whilst minimising the risks and costs of Court action.  He has a demonstrated ability to tailor his advice to the individual circumstances of his clients, whether they be seasoned litigants or new to the whole courtroom experience.

After graduating from the Australian National University with First Class Honours in law, Chris started out his career with the Australian Government Solicitor in Canberra. Having acted for government departments and insurers, Chris understands the inner workings of the bureaucracy. This has been invaluable in his transition to a private practice. Chris has gone on to represent companies and individuals in the corporate and financial sectors who have faced investigation and regulatory action.

He has acted on a broad range of matters including breakdowns in commercial contracts, insolvency and bankruptcy, corporate disputes, impasses between shareholders, breaches of directors duties, contentious property transactions, and pursuing or defending various other claims under contract, legislation, negligence, common law, and equity. Chris has represented clients in the local court right up to the High Court of Australia, and everything in between at both State and Federal jurisdictions.

When Chris is not at the office or in Court, he will often be found at a ski resort or on the sporting field playing soccer. He counts as his biggest success in life raising two beautiful children with his wife.
